Sailsafe is a dedicated application aimed at enhancing the safety of small and medium-sized vessels during anchoring. It establishes a customizable safety zone around the anchor and activates an alarm to notify users if the vessel strays beyond that zone, a scenario that can occur due to anchor drift or chain failure. The real-time location of the boat is consistently displayed on a map, providing reassurance and assistance in low visibility conditions.

The user can easily define the safety zone by specifying a radius. In the PRO version, an additional exclusion zone can be established, allowing for alerts regarding potentially risky changes in wind direction, particularly when the coastline is positioned downwind.

Sailsafe has been meticulously designed to ensure safety post-anchoring. Once the alarm is activated, the application monitors not only the vessel's position but also the battery level of the mobile device and the status of the GPS signal. Should any of these parameters falter, an audible alarm signals the specific issue. This feature allows users to relax, assured that Sailsafe will be vigilant on their behalf.

Note: Recent Android versions may deactivate alarms when the device enters idle mode (screen off) to conserve battery power. Users are advised to navigate to battery settings and add Sailsafe to the unmonitored apps list (this option may vary by Android version) and ensure no battery-saving mode is enabled.

• After setting the alarm, users can adjust the anchor position by indicating the actual bearing (as read from a compass) and estimating the distance from the vessel to the anchor.
• Ability to override current device volume, setting it to maximum when an alarm is triggered.
• Option to establish a minimum battery level that will trigger an alarm when reached.
• Feature for automatic reactivation of alarms following false positives.
• Screen can remain active while alarms are activated.
• Option to call a designated phone number when an alarm goes off.
• Remote command capabilities:
  • An incoming call from a predefined number will reset the alarm.
• An alarm is triggered if GPS signal is lost for a specified duration.

• Three operational modes:
  1. Normal: GPS readings every 10 seconds using a simple algorithm to filter out anomalous positions (saves battery when not charging).
  2. Fine: GPS readings every 2 seconds utilizing a complex averaging algorithm based on accuracy for filtering anomalous positions; consumes more power.
  3. Continuous: GPS readings every second following the same algorithm as Fine mode; optimized for adverse weather conditions; higher power consumption.
  4. Poor GPS Signal Mode.
• If re-enabling alarms, users may opt to retain the last recorded anchor position (helpful after a false alert) or utilize the current GPS reading if ship movement is less than 150 meters.
